2012 Video Contest
The Gloucester County Highway Safety Taskforce announces its ninth annual High School Video Contest. Students will have a choice of three (3) topics this year: (1) Driving Under the Influence, (2) Distracted Driving (Cellular phone usage / texting), and (3) Seatbelt Usage. Students may team up to produce a 30 second video depicting the dangers of the selected topic(s). The Grand Prize winning video will again be aired on commercial television, in addition to prizes for the top ten (10) videos. The contest is open to any high school student residing in Gloucester County. The deadline for entry is March 1, 2012. 2011 Video Contest Winners
The Gloucester County Highway Safety Taskforce would like to congratulate Jennifer Knipp, Tara Cerce, and Sommer Cuff from Clearview Regional High School for taking 1st place in this year’s contest. Their video “The Do’s and Don’ts of Driving” bested 145 other entries to earn top honors. For winning the contest, the video was aired on cable television for a period of three weeks, and the winning team received savings bonds and other prizes. Child Passenger Safety Technician Class  
The Gloucester County Highway Safety Task Force and National Safe Kids recently sponsored a Child Passenger Safety Technician class at the Gloucester County Fire Academy. In all, thirty new technicians were trained to properly install child passenger safety seats. There is information available to find a technician or to schedule an appointment to have your seat checked.

National Safety Council Defensive Driving Course (DDC 6/8)

The Gloucester County Highway Safety Taskforce is pleased to announce the offering of a free defensive driving course to residents of Gloucester County.  The program will be offered on the following dates:  February 8 and 9 (together) from 6pm-9pm, or February 25 from 10am-4pm.  Successful completion of the course can earn the student a 5% discount on insurance premiums, as well as a 2 point reduction from the Division of Motor Vehicles.  To register, you may contact Phyllis Covici at 856-384-5534, or pcovici@co.gloucester.nj.us.  You may also visit the Prosecutor’s Office website to register:  http://www.co.gloucester.nj.us/depts/p/prosoffice/default.asp
